Design Philosophy: Why Your Custom Jewelry Experience is Always Free
I often get asked, “How much is the custom design fee?”
The answer is always the same: Zero. Zilch. Nada.
I know that probably sounds too good to be true in the world of bespoke jewelry, where custom work often comes with a surcharge before a single bead is strung. But here’s the truth: I don’t see custom design as something to tax. I see it as a creative outlet, the part of my work that lights me up. 💗
It's a Love for the Craft, Not my Bank Account
The deepest root of Sacred Sol Design is my genuine, unqualified love for the craft. The fun part, the part that gets me out of bed is the challenge of meticulously fine-tuning every element that makes a piece uniquely yours...
The Hunt for the Perfect Stone
Every custom piece begins with a conversation. We talk about what draws you in, the colors you love, the intention behind the piece, the weight that feels right, the patterns that speak to you. Many clients send inspiration photos, and those visual cues help me understand the direction your intuition is already leaning.
From there, I begin the search. I study each stone in the light, look at how its pattern moves, feel its energy, and compare it against your preferences. I sort, refine, and eliminate until the right stone reveals itself, the one that feels aligned with both your vision and the piece we’re creating together.
It’s thoughtful, intuitive, and deeply personal. And when we find the stone, it feels like a shared discovery.
The Color Palette: Choosing the right color palette is one of the most collaborative parts of the process. We look at colors together. The Bright & Colorful beads that bring energy and the Earthy & Neutral accents that ground everything, even if you go with something more Pastel & Neutral or even Mystical & Whimsical. The goal is to create harmony, not competition, so every shade feels like it belongs.
You might send me inspiration photos, favorite color combinations, or even images that simply feel like you. These references help me understand the mood you’re drawn to, whether it’s vibrant and playful or soft and understated. From there, we explore how different beads interact: how a bold pop of color can be softened by a warm neutral, or how a subtle tone can highlight a brighter bead without overpowering it.
I start building combinations based on your preferences, adjusting and refining until the palette feels balanced, intentional, and aligned with your vision. It’s a thoughtful, intuitive process. A blend of color theory, personal style, and shared creativity, and it ensures the final piece feels like something we truly designed together.
The Perfect Fit: Getting the length and clasp just right is what makes a lanyard feel effortless when you wear it. When I help someone choose their fit, I look at a few key details.
Your height and frame matter because every body is different, and lanyards hang differently depending on your proportions. The goal is a length that feels natural, not so long that it drops below your belt and not so short that it sits above your breast line.
I also consider your preferred clasp style. Magnetic clasps, S‑hooks, standard lobster clasps, and breakaway magnetic options each offer their own balance of ease, security, and comfort.
Then there’s your metal tone. Silver or gold: the tone you choose should feel like you and complement your everyday style.
All of these elements come together to create a lanyard that feels intuitive, comfortable, and beautifully personal.
When you're driven by the joy of that creative puzzle, the money is secondary. Not charging an extra fee for the design phase allows me to focus completely on making your piece absolutely, undeniably perfect.
You're not just the Client; you're the Co-Designer!
When you trust me with your custom vision, you’re not waiting for a mystery package. You’re part of the process. I keep you updated with photos and progress shots so you can watch your piece come to life from the first sketch to the final bead which promises:
It's Perfect: There are no last-minute "wait, that's not what I imagined" moments. We adjust and fine-tune until it meets your highest standards.
It’s Personal: You get to see the care and attention to detail that goes into every piece of handcrafted jewelry. It transforms the accessory into a truly one-of-a-kind keepsake.
